Barrett Township is a township in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,880 at the 2000 census. Tow Poconos resort communities of Buck Hill Falls and Skytop are located within the township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 53.2 square miles (137.9 km²), of which, 52.6 square miles (136.2 km²) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.7 km²) of it (1.22%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,880 people, 1,569 households, and 1,027 families residing in the township. The population density was 73.8 people per square mile (28.5/km²). There were 2,164 housing units at an average density of 41.2/sq mi (15.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 95.59% White, 2.01% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.64% Asian, 0.67% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.57% of the population.

There were 1,569 households out of which 28.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.03.

In the township the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $43,634, and the median income for a family was $50,530. Males had a median income of $33,550 versus $27,240 for females. The per capita income for the township was $22,465. About 7.2% of families and 9.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.4% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over.
