Baron Sysonby

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baron Sysonby, of Wonersh in the County of Surrey, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1935 for the military commander Frederick Grey Ponsonby. He was the great-grandson of Frederick Ponsonby, 3rd Earl of Bessborough and the elder brother of Arthur Ponsonby, 1st Baron Ponsonby of Shulbrede. Other members of the Ponsonby family include the Baron de Mauley and, previously, the Barons and Viscount Ponsonby. As of 2007 the barony is held by the first Baron's grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1956. As a descendant of the third Earl of Bessborough he is also in remainder to this peerage and its subsidiary titles.
