Baron Darcy of Temple Hurst

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The title of Baron Darcy of Temple Hurst or of/de Chiche was created once (or twice) in the Peerage of England.

On 5 April 1551, Thomas Darcy was created Baron Darcy of Chiche and invested as Knight, Order of the Garter the same year. This title was later known as Baron Darcy of Temple Hurst. The third baron was created Earl Rivers on 4 November 1626, and in 1613 Baron Darcy of Chiche. The barony of 1551 became extinct on his death in 1640. The barony of 1613, earldom of Rivers and its subsidiaries passed to his daughter's son (see Earl Rivers).
