Barcaldine Regional Council

Barcaldine Regional Council is a proposed Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area will be created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in Central West Queensland, will contain the entire area of three existing Local Government Areas;
The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect six councillors and a mayor. The Barcaldine Regional Council will cover an area of 53,677 square kilometres (20,725 sq mi), contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 3,503 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD21.6m.
The Regional Council will cover the towns of Alpha, Aramac, Barcaldine, Jericho and Muttaburra.
