[edit] History
BGR was founded in 1991 by former Republican National Committee chair Haley Barbour, former George H.W. Bush staffer Lanny Griffith, and former aide to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush Ed Rogers.[2]
[edit] Nuri Al-Maliki
In August, 2007, CNN reported that BGR had "begun a public campaign to undermine the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki." The network described BGR as a "powerhouse Republican lobbying firm with close ties to the White House."[3] CNN also mentioned that Ayad Allawi is both al-Maliki's rival and BGR's client, although it did not assert that Allawi had hired BGR to undermine al-Maliki.[4]
