Barbara W. Winder

Barbara Ann Woodhead Winder (b. May 9, 1931) was the eleventh general president of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1984 to 1990.
Barabara Woodhead was raised in East Millcreek, Utah. She attended several years at the University of Utah before marrying Richard W. Winder.
In 1982, Winder accompanied her husband to California, where he presided over the California San Diego Mission) of the church. At the April 1984 church general conference, Winder was accepted by the church as the president of the Relief Society, with Joy F. Evans and Joanne B. Doxey as her counselors. Winder succeeded Barbara B. Smith, who had been Relief Society president since 1974. In April 1990, Winder was released and she accompanied her husband to Czechoslovakia where he was president of the Czechoslovakia Prague Mission of the church. Winder was succeeded by Elaine L. Jack.
Winder and her husband are the parents of four children. One of these children is Susan W. Tanner.
