Barbara Kendall (born August 30, 1967 in Papakura) is a sailor from New Zealand. She won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, silver medal in 1996 (in Atlanta, Georgia), and a bronze medal in 2000 (in Sydney).[1] Kendall also finished 5th at the 2004 Games in Athens and has been selected for the 2008 Games in Beijing. She will thus be the first woman from New Zealand to compete at 5 Olympic Games.
She is a member of the International Olympic Committee and the Athletes Commission, having replaced Susie O'Neill when she resigned in 2005 (as she was the athlete from the same continent who had received the next highest number of votes for the commission [2]).
