A legislative election was held in Barbados on 28 May 1986. The Barbadian people elected 27 members to the House of Assembly for a term of five years.

The opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP) defeated the Barbados Labour Party (BLP), capturing the largest share (24) of seats in the election.
