Pulong Buhangin is one of the twenty-four barangays comprising the municipality of Santa Maria, Bulacan. It is bordered by Barangays Caypombo on the south, Balasing on the east, Partida, Norzagaray on the north and Pulong Yantok, Angat on the northwest. The barangay is the home of the nationally-known Pulong Buhangin National High School which produced two champions in the prestigious National Schools Press Conference.

Pulong Buhangin is the largest barangay in Santa Maria with a land area of 1,438 hectares[1] or 14.38 sq. km, larger than the towns of Pateros and Navotas in Metro Manila.

Pulong Buhangin is located seven kilometers northeast of Sta. Maria town proper and thirty-nine kilometers from Manila.

The prevailing climatic conditions in the municipality is categorized into two (2) types: dry and wet season.

The annual mean temperature in the area is 27 degrees Celsius. The warmest month is May with a mean temperature of 29.9 degrees Celsius while the coldest is January at 25.2 degrees Celsius.

As of 1999, Pulong Buhangin has a population of 15,437 in 3,213 households.

Public vehicles such as buses, jeepneys, and tricycles are the means of transportation in the barangay.

Philippine Corinthian Line, Erwin Bus and Nuestra Señora del Carmen regularly ply the Pulong Buhangin-Ayala-Baclaran route.
