Baramita, is a community in the Barima-Waini region of northern Guyana standing about 20 miles east of Matthew's Ridge, at an of altitude 99 metres (328 feet). The population of Baramita is roughly 1,700. It is one of the largest Amerindian settlements in the country. As of 2005, Baramita can be easily reached only by air, but a road is planned to link it with Matthew's Ridge.
