Barabanki (Hindi: बाराबंकी, Urdu: بارابنکی) is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is the administrative headquarters of Barabanki District. This is situated some 30 km east of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, one of major states in India.

This city has produced some well known personalities like the legendary K D Singh "Babu", a famous hockey player. The famous Shiva temple "Mahadewa" is also located in this district only. Its situated approx 30 kilometers from Barabanki on the Lucknow Behraich Road, popularly known as Buddhist Circuit (bauddh paripath). Barabanki has produced some other prominent personalities like "Khumar Barabankwi", the famous poet & "Rafi Ahmed Kidwai", an eminent political figure. The famous "Haji Waris Ali Shah Baba's" dargah is also located at Dewa in Barabanki.It is marked by an annual fair which facilitates the cultural,social & economic efficiencies of the district.
Iran's famous religious and political leader, Ayotallah Khomeini's paternal grandfather , Seyyed Ahmad Musavi Hindi, was born in Kintur, a village in the Barabanki District of Uttar Pradesh. He went to Iran in 1834 and sttled down in Khomein, Iran in 1839 during the times of British Raj in India to escape colonial rule.
