Bar San Calisto

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bar San Calisto is a long-established nightspot in the faddy Trastevere quarter of Rome, Italy. At night, foreign tourists enjoy the place, together with nice Italian clients, along with a large number of artists and musicians. During the daytime, it is often frequented by British tourists, who stop in for a cup of coffee or some gelato. Nevertheless it is mainly known in the city for its legendary chocolate.

The Bar San Calisto is located in Piazza San Calisto, adjacent to the easily accessible Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. Across from the Bar San Calisto, there is the oratory of San Calisto, which is now used as a central meeting facility by the San Egidio community. Also across from the Bar is an old palace which is now part of the Vatican City State.
