BARFL Premiership
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The BARFL Premiership was an Australian rules football competition in England and the main league of the British Australian Rules Football League.
The BARFL Premiership began in 1990, and was more commonly known as the London Premiership since 2001 due to a restructuring of the BARFL and the introduction of regional and Scottish divisions. It was regarded as the highest level of competition in the United Kingdom.
The BARFL Premiership became part of the new AFL London structure for the start of the 2008 season as part of the AFL Britain restructure, becoming in the process a competition solely aimed at those clubs in or around the London Region. A new committee was established to solely look after the affairs and management of the London leagues, thus freeing up the National Committee to take a more strategic overview of the development of the sport across the country.
