As of 1991 Bangladesh census[1], Banshkhali has a population of 320339. Males constitute are 52.07% of the population, and females 47.93%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 151875. Banshkhali has an average literacy rate of 22.6% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. [2]
