Bangladesh Marine Academy

Bangladesh Marine Academy is a maritime training institution in Bangladesh. It provides training to merchant marine cadets, seamen, and also crews.

It is located near the banks of the Karnaphuli River, at Juldia, 20 kilometres south of Chittagong city. The current Commandant of the academy is Captain Zahir Uddin Ahmed(ND),ndc,psc BN of the Bangladesh Navy.

The academy was established in 1962. [1] It is currently administered under the Ministry of Shipping.

The Marine Academy provides the following courses:[1]

[edit] Pre-sea courses

  • Pre-Sea Nautical Science – 2 years in the Academy and 1 year at Sea.
  • Pre-Sea Marine Engineering - 2 years in the Academy (Phase – I), 6 months at Sea (Phase-II), and 6 months in the Academy (Phase-III)
  • Bachelor of Maritime Science (Nautical) degree course – 2 years in the academy under National University (Simultaneously with the Pre-Sea Nautical Studies)
  • Bachelor of Maritime Science (Engineering) degree course – 2 years in the academy under National University (Simultaneously with the Pre-Sea Marine Engineering [Phase-I])
