Bangladesh Infantry Regiment

The Bangladesh Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the Bangladesh Army. It was formed in 2001 as the second regiment of Bangladesh's infantry, behind the East Bengal Regiment. The regiment was raised initially by transferring units of the East Bengal Regiment to the new regimental centre, before its own recruits were trained. The regiment was first new unit raised by Bangladesh in the 21st Century, and consequently is also called Regiment of the Millennium.
The regiment provides eight battalions to Bangladesh's UN peacekeeping commitments:
