The banded hickory beetle is a fast and curious beetle that measures to about 15-30 mm in length. It flies by opening its elytra then it spreads out its wings and takes off. If roughly handled it may start to squeak furiously. They are usually found on hickory trees and oak trees. They lay their eggs on hickory and oak trees.
