Bammental started as an extension of Reilsheim at the turn of the millennium. From 1330 to 1803, Bammental belonged to the Palatinate of the Rhein. Bammental belonged to the Meckesheim tithe. After 1803, the settlement went to Baden.

[edit] Coat of arms

The coat of arms is based on an earlier court seal. The seal has been been documented to have been in use since 1747. It was officially recognized in 1894 by the General State Archive. The lion and the field of lozenges represent the Palatinate of the Rhine. The tree represents the etymological origin of the name Bammental, Baum im Tal (tree in the valley).

The flag is green and white and was awarded by the Ministry of the Interior in 1965.
