Bamburi (pronounced /ˌbæmˈbɜriː/) is a coastal district of Mombasa, Kenya, and is located to the north-east of the island. It is an area of tourism, and as such has many beach-front hotels.

Bamburi is the location of Bamburi Cement, the East African division of Lafarge Eco Systems.

In 1971, Rene Haller transformed part of the cement and quarry complex into a nature reserve[1]. The 11km2 area holds a variety of native game, and (prior to 2007) the highly covered attraction of Owen and Mzee - the friendship of a hippopotamus and a tortoise.

Bamburi is reached by bus or matatu from Mombasa island en route to Mtwapa or Malindi. Terminal matatus serve the Bamburi Cement complex[2]
