[edit] Wikipedia talk:Notability (people)#Regarding notability of Football (soccer) players
Hi, seeing you are interested in football this is an invitation to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. I think clearer guidelines are needed to avoid repeated inappropriate nominations for deletion and time consuming discussions. Cheers! StephP 20:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:NHA badge.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:NHA badge.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Redirect of Teesside athletic
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Teesside athletic, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Teesside athletic is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Teesside athletic, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Ryan Solle
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}
" template to the article Ryan Solle, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 02:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dan Stratford
Someone recreated it before I got the chance to restore. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 15:57, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Few things
- You've probably had this answered already, but as to your question one year ago on the List of current MLS players talk page, the standard is to leave out playoff caps and goals.
- What's the latest on deletionists and MLS player articles? I know that Dan Stratford got deleted because he'd never been in a professional game, and then recreated when he got his first match...is there now a hard standard against MLSers who've never seen time in a pro match? If so,
-
- 1.) What about the notability clause stating that "Competitors and coaches who have competed at the highest level in amateur sports (and meet the general criteria of secondary sources published about them)" are eligible for articles? Does this only apply to stuff like the Olympics, or could it apply to playing for a DI school, as Stratford did?
- 2.) What about the MLS players who've never played a pro match but have articles anyway? Are we just hoping no one notices? If so, I fully support this!
- How do you feel about cultural sensitivity (or whatever) in the MLS player list? Like, I stuck Guillermo Barros Schelotto under the B section by Spanish convention, Rafel Gomes (Rafael Gomes dos Santos was the full title of his article) under the S section by Portuguese convention, and Van den Bergh was already under the B section, Fred already under the S section ("da Silva"), and so on. Are we overdoing it?
If you can shed light on any of that, thanks. François Metro (talk) 05:41, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Bideford crest.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Bideford crest.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --12:08, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Barnstaplebadge.jpg}
Thank you for uploading Image:Barnstaplebadge.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
