[edit] Speedy deletion of Dazjae

A tag has been placed on Dazjae requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ju66l3r (talk) 20:54, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

You wrote on Talk:Dazjae -- The notability is listed at the end of the article. This author has written a book that focuses on multicultural "faerie" or elves. This is a first in the African-American community. It is notable and I am confused as to why this would be listed for deletion. How does this process work? Is it petition-based to contest removal? It would be extremely unfair to disclude a book that places Multicultural characters in a positive light which provides cultural lore important to the self-image of children who rarely see their own image in exalted positions when there have been so few in recent times. Thankyou. I look forward to further information.
Please review the information on Wikipedia's notability policy. First, simply because someone does something unique does not automatically make them notable. Notability requires multiple, significant, reliable coverage from secondary sources. My decision (and a previous decision on the same article yesterday) to file for speedy deletion was not arbitrary but because I searched for information on this author and found nothing from sources such as are required. I did not only believe the article did not establish notability based on the guidelines here but also that there is no likelihood that the article could ever do so based on the lack of evidence available. If you want to re-establish this article, you need to first find sourcing that meets the criteria listed in the notability policy linked above. If you have any other questions, write to me on my talk page. Please don't restart the article again in its current form. Thanks. ju66l3r (talk) 21:10, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] One more time

As another editor explained above, "First, simply because someone does something unique does not automatically make them notable. Notability requires multiple, significant, reliable coverage from secondary sources." Just because you or I think somebody is noteworthy doesn't matter. What matters is if the person has been covered by reliable independent sources. If you don't have such sources, you shouldn't repost the article, even if you think this author is significant. [edit] Notability of Afrospear

A tag has been placed on Afrospear requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Andante1980 (talk) 14:07, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proof of Notability is in the first description you deleted====

The notability is that the Afrospear has been mentioned 93 times in the media. I provided a link in the first description to prove it. You gave no time for this to be disputed. 5 minutes after I added the page it was deleted. I doubt it was read by the editor. Check the 'Afrosphere' in Wikipedia, it mentions the Afrospear. The separate page is to create clarity. Please restore the page as soon as possible.

I will say three things, one I was expecting this. Two, it wasn't me who deleted your article. And three, links to pages directly related to the subject are not considered when it comes to Notability Andante1980 (talk) 14:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
