Balapur has been discriminated against for around three decades now. The examples are glaring and there is a undeclared agenda by the Govt of the state. The step motherly treatment of Vidarbha gets blurred as soon as the question of Religion and Castes comes to the Criminals mind. The fight for Vidarbha rights goes out of their mind, which is the reason for the failure of the separate state movement. A few examples are here: 1. MSRTC despite the budgetry constrainst starts bus depots at Shegaon and Murtuzapur despite their miniscle population. This was true whern on reorganisation of districts, Telhara with hardly a population and 18 km distance from Akot was made one. 2. This must be first in the world that the bus stand is constucted by the local body(municipality) instead of MSRTC. The size of the bus stand is appauling as compared to the need of the town as well as the route Balapur is on. 3. Bus being the only transport, small town buses go bye pass, which makes long route travellers to Poona and Nagpur either to go Khamgaon or Akola. Such is the apathy whereas the small village of Borgaon is made a stop for all buses even from other districts. This smacks of the stepmotherly treatment meted to Balapur. 4. The SBI has two branches locally as well as it is a serice branch for SBIs in local villages. Balapur is yet to be connected to SBI Net neither it has got any ATM installed. People find it difficult to use the bank who are away from the mother town. The SBI staff is never residing at the Town and come at their own convenient time. 5. There is hardly any hospital. The Rural Hospital has been converted from the Local Municipal Hospital which is now away from the reach of local poors. The case of Malegaon's condition comes to ones mind.
