Description

Ballynacarriga or Ballinacarriga Castle (Beal Ath na Carraig) was built in 1585 by Randal Hurley (Muirhily). Situated overlooking Ballynacarriga Lough, it is a large four storey tower house, whose walls are over 6 feet thick. The castle is in a good state of preservation, largely because up to the C19 it also served as a parish church.
