Baltimore Marylands

The Baltimore Marylands were a short-lived National Association baseball club during the 1873 season. They played their one and only home game at Madison Avenue Grounds[1], although several sources place their home games at Newington Park[2], but that park was the home of the Baltimore Canaries or, as they were known then, the Lord Baltimores. The team was managed by Bill Smith, who also played in the outfield and at catcher. The Marylands had a record of 0-6, giving up 152 runs while only scoring 26.[3] The Marylands only two opponents for these six games were Washington Blue Legs and the Baltimore Canaries, playing the latter in their final 4 games before the team officially folded after the July 11, 1873 game.[4]
