. Call the admissions office of the college you are interested in visiting to set up an appointment. Look up the number on the website or check the guidance office for college books.

2. Pick a date that best works for your schedule. It is very important to visit a campus when it is in full session because you tend to get a better idea of the everyday flow of the campus. Colleges also have campus visit days which usually involve a lot of events and students. Sometimes this is a good initial visit but you may want to schedule another individual one for a more personal touch.

3. Have an idea of what areas you are interested in majoring in so you can visit those specific departments.

4. These are the following areas that you should visit while on campus:

· Take a general tour of the campus.

· Speak to a person in the admissions office. Find out requirements for admission, deadlines and get an application.

· Speak to a person in the financial aid office. Get information and applications about the FAFSA, grants, scholarships and loans.

· Tour the dorms if you plan on living on campus. Pick up a housing application.

· Visit with a professor in the department you are interested in majoring in to answer any questions you may have or just to find out more about your possible field of study. Also see about possibly visiting with students from that major area.

· If you plan on participating in sports, band, choir, cheerleading and other specific activities, ask to meet with the coach or sponsor.

· Make sure to check out the cafeteria and the food!
