Ballantyne (neighborhood)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ballantyne is a neighborhood in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.

It is a 2000 acre mixed-use development located in the southernmost part of Charlotte, adjacent to the South Carolina border.

Ballantyne was named after land developer Howard C. “Smoky” Bissell's aunt Barbara Ballantyne. Mr. Bissell was the visionary who predicted that Charlotte would expand toward the South Carolina border and planned an office and commercial development relative to his prediction. [1]

Ballantyne includes a country club community, with a growing number of neighborhoods with homes that range from starter homes to estates that sell for millions of dollars. Ballantyne is a booming community, which features upscale restaurants, high-end shopping, corporate offices, homes and more.

Ballantyne's sought-after South Charlotte location and high-performing schools have led many families to this popular community.

The I-485 Outerbelt runs right through the development and sees one of the highest traffic counts in North Carolina right around this section.
