Baldwin Harbor is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 8,147 at the 2000 census.

Baldwin Harbor is in the Town of Hempstead.

Baldwin Harbor is located at 40°38′2″N, 73°36′14″W (40.633923, -73.603779)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²), of which, 1.2 square miles (3.2 km²) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.2 km²) of it (28.24%) is water.

Baldwin Harbor is in reality not a distinct hamlet, but a subdivision of the larger hamlet of Baldwin, NY.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 8,147 people, 2,753 households, and 2,282 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6,642.1 per square mile (2,557.4/km²). There were 2,787 housing units at an average density of 2,272.2/sq mi (874.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 82.63% White, 8.90% African American, 0.11% Native American, 4.69% Asian, 1.80% from other races, and 1.87% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.89% of the population.

There were 2,753 households out of which 38.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.0% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.1% were non-families. 13.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 3.26.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $84,527, and the median income for a family was $95,240. Males had a median income of $59,779 versus $39,483 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $33,674. About 1.9% of families and 2.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.9% of those under age 18 and 3.2% of those age 65 or over.
