[edit] History

The Group was founded by Late Shri Abheraj H. Baldota, a visionary [entrepreneur] who had the foresight to tap India's vast reserve of high grade iron ore at a time when the Indian mining industry itself was at a nascent stage. Under his aegis, the Baldota Group transformed from a fledgling mining company to a full-fledged conglomerate with diversified businesses such as Iron ore, Wind Power, Gases, Steel, Chemical and Diamond & Gold Mining.

Built around the core ethos (Creativity, Commitment, Concern, Care and Core Values) laid down by Shri Abheraj Baldota, the Group meticulously works towards achieving leadership position in every business domain that it operates.

[edit] MSPL Gases

As a part of its strategic diversification and growth plan to establish a service oriented business, the Baldota group diversified into manufacturing of industrial gases in 1983 with a 140 cum per hour oxygen plant at Hosahalli near Munirabad, Koppal Taluka and Dist. MSPL Gases Limited has a plant capacity of 16 tons per day to simultaneous produce Oxygen, Nitrogen and Medical Oxygen. A state-of-the-art plant it has the technology to produce gases with minimal power consumption, yet maintain a high degree of product purity. Recently the company signed a contract with the Steel Authority of India Limited-SAIL at Bhadravathi to commission a 50 tons per day oxygen plant on a ‘build own and operate' basis. It crossed this milestone on 11.10.2006 as the plant was inaugurated by the executive director of Steel Authority of India Limited.

This is the first Indian plant to be executed on a BOO basis and has been contracted for a period of 15 years. It is a highly power efficient plant operating to the satisfaction of the customer; optimally meeting the quality, quantity, Purity of products.

Keeping in mind the escalating petroleum prices, the company has taken a policy decision to restrict the customer profile within a 250 km radius from the manufacturing premises. To implement this policy decision the company has set up new manufacturing / refilling stations at Toranagallu, Raichur and Belgaum .

MSPL Gases limited also supplies liquid oxygen explosives to the mining sector and has gathered pioneering experience in supplying these kind of cost effective explosives. For MSPL Gases every step in its expansion is designed to take it a step closer to the client. It has ventured into establishing its own outlets at various places across Southern India with a philosophy of narrowing the gap between the producer and the end user. It has set up a strong service network of depots at Hospet, Bellary, Kurnool, Pune, Mangalore, Karwar, Goa, Bijapur, Kurnool, Chiplun, Hubli, Solapur, Kholapur and Shimoga.

The company has also maintained a dealer network of equal repute at Gangavathi, Raichur, Shimoga and many other places in Karnataka.

[edit] LR Industries

L R industries is a partnership company under the Baldota group promoted by Smt. Lavina R. Baldota and Smt. Rashmi s. Baldota. The company has established a 100 cum Oxygen plant in MIDC at Solapur to cater to the growing need of medical oxygen for various hospitals.

The company supplies this medical oxygen in trolleys to facilitate optimum use and reduce handling by the hospitals.

The company has a vision to cater to a whole range of hospitals across Maharashtra State.

[edit] Mahalakshmi Industries

Mahalakshmi Gases is a Proprietorship firm under the banner of the ‘’’Baldota group’’’ and is promoted by Smt. Chitra N. Baldota.

Mahalakshmi Gases installed a 200 cum per hour Air Separation Plant during 2003 at Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur Dist., Maharashtra. It cost-effectively produces Oxygen, Medical Oxygen and Nitrogen Gas while maintaining high quality standards. This plant builds economics into its system and facilitate the ultimate user to work with high pressure gas flow, as it is designed to fill gases at 200 bar pressure.

The company has also introduced specially made 10 cum cylinders which are being used in Maharashtra and Goa. The Company has also supported the customer by providing high pressure regulators.

The company is determined to implement the corporate philosophy of serving the customers directly by eliminating distribution channels. Towards this the company has opened its own sales depots at Goa and Chiplun and has also maintained a dealer network of high repute.

[edit] R S Enterprises

R S Enterprises is a partnership company under the Baldota Group promoted by Shri. Rahul N. Baldota and Shri. Shrenik N. Baldota.

The group set up a dissolved acetylene plant in the name of M/S. RS Enterprises in March 1992 to manufacture dissolved acetylene gas. The company has successfully executed supplies to the Indian Railways, State Government organisations and various public and private sector companies to their fullest satisfaction by giving utmost care for safety, quality, quantity and timely supplies.

[edit] Mahakali Gases

Mahakali Gases is a Proprietorship firm promoted by Smt. Rashmi S. Baldota under the Baldota Group.

The group company has expanded its activities along the KarnatakaGoa border by installing a 45 cum per hour dissolved acetylene plant to support the industrial growth along the Konkan belt of Goa, Karwar, Panji, Ponda, Bhatkal, Kumta and Sirsi.

This plant also brings logistic advantages to the Maharashtra customers of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Pune and Baramati districts.

[edit] Vijaya Oxygen

The core of VILOX Explosives

VILOX is a liquid oxygen explosive. The primary concept in liquid oxygen explosives is the development of explosive reactions by combustion of combustible particles in cartridge form under conditions of thorough saturation in liquid oxygen.

When the combustible particle saturated with liquid oxygen is ignited or detonated, the particle will instantly be consumed, resulting in combustion.

When several combustible particles saturated in liquid oxygen are in close proximity, they enable propagation of the combustible reaction from one particle to the other; the result is complete combustion at an accelerated speed.

The rate of propagation is rapidly accelerated under conditions of accumulated heat and pressure from gases developed in confinement. And with rapid propagation of combustion from particle to particle, the result is maximum and effective explosive power for blasting of rocks, minerals etc.

VILOX has all the properties of a good explosive. In fact, it is one of the most effective, economical and safe explosives. VILOX finds wide application in the mining industry.

[edit] Power behind VILOX Explosives

VILOX Liquid Oxygen explosion at Vyasankere Iron Ore Mines

VILOX liquid oxygen explosives are prepared and marketed by Vijaya Oxygen, the pioneers of liquid oxygen based explosives in South India.

Vijaya Oxygen are in fact one of the pioneers of industrial gas products including liquid oxygen. This naturally led to the Company's entry in the explosive market with liquid oxygen based explosives. The Company has been involved in manufacture and marketing of VILOX since 1983.

Liquid Oxygen Plant: The Company has established a 30 tonne-per-day plant manufactured by M/s Griesheim of Germany with liquid oxygen production capacity of 9.0 million litres per annum. The plant has a storage capacity of 3.00 lac litres.

The Company has also set up a network of technical services and supply points, assuring convenience, prompt services and supplies for VILOX users.

    • VILOX Applications

Liquid oxygen based explosives have wide application in civil engineering and open cast mining of iron ore, limestone, bauxite, magnetite, coal, etc.

The application of VILOX has been successfully done at the mines in and around the Hospet-Sandur-Bellary sector, leading to its continuous and extensive application in deep hole blasting in this sector.

Significantly, the use of VILOX in this sector has admittedly provided substantial savings in blasting and drilling costs, increased output and better fragmentation, not to mention the advantage of almost zero inventory.

    • VILOX Preparation

The explosive is prepared by soaking indigenously prepared and tested dry cartridges in liquid oxygen.

The soaking is done at the site of blasting or as close to it as possible in specifically designed and approved vessels by our technical team. The whole process may take from 30 minutes to an hour depending upon the size and quantity of cartridges soaked.

    • VILOX Loading and Firing

Each hole is charged with a predetermined number of soaked cartridges, which is arrived at after fixing the blasting ratio (defined as the amount of explosives required in kgs. to blast one cu.m/tonne of rock). The first cartridge in each hole has the detonating fuse attached to it.

    • VILOX Advantages

Economical: It has been proven over the years in various mines that the usage of liquid oxygen explosives is economical over conventional explosives. Both in terms of actual explosive cost and saving ensured by advantages like zero inventory, better fragmentation etc.

Safe: Neither liquid oxygen nor the cartridges are explosive by themselves. Plus the oxidizing component (i.e. liquid oxygen) is not permanently held as in other explosives. In fact, once the liquid oxygen evaporates, the cartridges become safe again. Hence, there is no risk from misfires.

Direct handling of explosives: handling of explosives from magazine to site is eliminated.

No physiological side effects: Unlike conventional explosives, liquid oxygen explosives cause no physiological side effects.

Wide cartridge range: An extensive range of cartridge sizes suited to different mining conditions, and which ensure excellent fragmentation, throw and best blasting results are available. Explosives are available in cartridge sizes from 25mm diameter x 150mm length to 210mm diameter x 600mm length. Customized cartridge size requirements can also be met depending on off-take.

Zero inventory: As per statute, magazine for liquid oxygen explosives is not required to be maintained by users, and hence gives the advantage of almost zero inventory.
