Balanidae is a family of barnacles of the order Sessilia.

Diagnosis: Barnacles with shell of 4 or 6 compartmental plates, plates porose with complex (arborescent) interlaminate septa, basis calcaeous, rostral plate with radii. Labrum cleft, penis with basidorsal point.
