[edit] Template:Hong Kong elections
It was not a by-election for Chief Exec - a by-election can only be held for a parliamentary seat. It is the same situation as the Israeli prime ministerial election, 2001 which replaced the Israeli PM halfway through the 16th Knesset, and is a full election (how long the term is does not matter).
As for the flag, it doesn't matter what the flag was, the template reflects the country's name and flag now (see other templates on List of election results by country). Number 57 22:55, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- It was not a by-election and flags do not have to be used. Please see all other templates on the page above and revert your changes. Number 57 23:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

- Please stop adding these flags. The templates are built to take one flag only; if you want to change this, please open a discussion on the topic at Template talk:National elections. Additionally:
- The 2005 election was not a by-election. A by-election is held to replace an MP, not a leader. As I pointed out above, the only similar scenario is the 2001 election for PM in Israel, which no-one refers to as a by-election.
- I am also perfectly aware of what a congress is, but it is still a form of parliament.
- As you can see for yourself here, Macanese is the common English adjective for Macau.

[edit] Template:Irish elections
Please stop adding flagicons to this template, from your edits it is clear you have very little knowledge of the issue, this template deals with Irish Elections to Dáil Éireann which is a independent country, nothing to do with the Uk.--padraig 23:22, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ireland declared its independence in 1918, the Union Flag has no place on this template, and any attempt to add would require consensus to be achieved on the talk page first, also you should read WP:Flagcruft.--padraig 23:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- The Tricolour was the flag of the Irish Free State, not the Union Flag.--padraig 23:42, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- The 1918 election was for the Irish Republic so no Union Flag. --Barryob Vigeur de dessus 00:07, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes it was, the Irish Republic was proclaimed in 1916 and retrospectively established by the First Dáil in 1919, and at any rate the 1918 election was for two separate legislators the Dáil Éireann (Irish Republic) and the Parliament of the United Kingdom, the template your are looking for is Template:Irish (UK) elections --Barryob Vigeur de dessus 01:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- The 1918 election was for the Irish Republic so no Union Flag. --Barryob Vigeur de dessus 00:07, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

- The Sinn Féin candidates stood on the platform of withdrawing Irish representation from Westminster and the establishment of Dáil Éireann reinstating the Irish Republic declared in 1916, the Irish people responded by giving them the mandate for this to take place.--padraig 02:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Flags
Some people on here have problems with flags. Don't let that discourage you from continuing to make good faith edits. If the old colonial flag of Malaysia [Malaya] could be found on here, then that would probably be preferable to using the Union Jack on that template, and probably couldn't be argued with (though I won't hold my breath on that!) [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:1stkcr.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:1stkcr.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
