Baksan Neutrino Observatory

The Baksan Neutrino Observatory (BNO) is a neutrino observatory of INR RAS located in the Baksan gorge in the Caucasus. It started operations in 1977, becoming the first such observatory in the USSR.[1] It consists of the Baksan Underground Scintillation Telescope, located 300m below the surface [2], a Gallium-Germanium Neutrino Telescope 3,500m deep [2], as well as a number of ground facilities.
