Bakri, Johor

Bakri often Bukit Bakri is a town in Johor, Malaysia. It is located along Federal Route 24 in Muar district, just five kilometers east of Muar town. In 1991, it had a population of 10,000, which doubled by the 2000 census to 20,123.Now Bukit Bakri population is 30280. It is situated at a latitude of 2° 3' N and longitude of 102° 40' E.
During World War II the town was the site of a battle against the Japanese Imperial Army which was advancing on Singapore via Parit Sulong and Kluang. There are many Muslim, Chinese, Hindu and Christian cemeteries in Bakri town including the historic Japanese war cemetery from World War II.
