Citypixel is a isometric online virtual world founded by Ken Fearnley in the 2006. Citypixel combines the traditional social networking features with a 3D paradigm and introduces a sense of ‘virtual’ ownership. The site does not require any software to be installed or downloaded and is accessible by all major web browsers.
In PixelYork, a virtual, 3-D rendition of New York City, Citypixel.com has created the first of many international cities that blend isometric pixel art with social networking elements. The combination of the art based world, complete with customizable apartments and office spaces, and select, but widely embraced, social networking features creates a unique online community and offers a radical slant on existing social networking platforms.
User accounts are free, but value added items and services, as well as advertising are available for purchase.

[edit] Apartments, Cubes and Cars
An Apartment and office cube are available to each user for free. Users can also buy cars using Pixels, which using the same drag and drop interface, they can customize many different ways.
[edit] Currency
Pixels are Citypixel's currency. Pixels are used to buy premium virtual furniture and other items from the world's stores. Pixels are earned by spending time in the world and interacting with other users. Pixels will also soon be able to be purchased using a variety of different services, such as credit cards, a telephone service and via SMS.
[edit] Pixel Art
Paul Stride-Noble has created all the Pixel Art graphics for Citypixel. Paul immediately gained recognition from the pixel art community when he introduced himself by releasing his largest pixel art piece, 'pixeltown'. The piece instantly won the prestigious Daily Deviation Award on Deviantart.com and has been downloaded more than 35,000 times to date.
Citypixel is the only virtual world using Pixel Art as its graphical style.
