Bahrain Royal Medical Services

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bahrain Royal Medical Services (Bahrain Defense Force Hospital) is one of the major hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the only one where free health care is provided exclusively for non-civilians.

The Hospital was opened in 1968 as a special unit of the National Guard (currently Bahrain Defense Force) that specialized in treating military personnel. The next three decades saw major expansions that turned the hospital into the second largest hospital in Bahrain. The hospital currently offers free health care to B.D.F, Bahrain Ministry of Interior, Royal Court employees and their families. The hospital is also open for government VIP and civilians, but not as a free service (with the emergency unit as an exception).
