A PKK rebel commander of approximately 3,000 forces,[1] Dr. Bahoz Erdal is a leader in the militant Hêzên Parastina Gel (People's Defence Force).
While most reports suggest he is Kurdish, the Turkish magazine Aksiyon reported that he was actually a Syrian named Fehman Hussein.[2]
On October 21, 2007, he told Firat News Agency that eight missing Turkish soldiers were being held hostage.[3]
