Bahamians

Bahamians are people of the Bahamas. It's the plural of the word Bahamian.

Eighty five percent of Bahamians are of African Heritage, the rest are of European, Asian and Hispanic descent. Those of European descent are also referred to as Conchs or Conchy Joes.

"King" Eric Gibson is a Bahamian musician and entrepreneur. He is also the semi-official Ambassador of Bahamian Goodwill.

John "Chippie" Chipman, A local folk hero, widely known and credited for making goatskin and sheep skin drums. It is estimated that alone he made some four (4,000) thousand drums a year.

Tonique Williams-Darling, 2004 Olympic gold medalist (400m), 2005 IAAF World Champion, she split the Golden League - Million Dollar Jackpot ($500,000) by winning 8 consecutive 400m events in the championship series. Bahamas Government honour the Olympic and World Champion; by naming a major highway the "Tonique Williams-Darling Highway".
