Baguette was a notable Australian thoroughbred racehorse. A son of the sire Rego from the Star Kingdom mare Dark Jewel, he was trained by Fil Allotta at Randwick.
Some of his major race victories include the 1970 STC Golden Slipper Stakes, 1970 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes, 1970 AJC Champagne Stakes and the 1971 VRC Newmarket Handicap.
A consistent performer won all of his seven starts in his two-year old season and only once finished worse the third in his first 23 races when fourth in the 1970 STC Hill Stakes.
Retired to stud, his progeny included the winner of the 1980 STC Golden Slipper Stakes winner (Dark Eclipse) and the 1981 STC Todman Slipper Trial Crown Jester who went on to himself sire a Golden Slipper winner and influential sire in Rory's Jester.
During his stud career Baguette stood alongside Gunsynd at the famous Kia Ora Stud at Scone in New South Wales.
Baguette died at the stud in 1983 after suffering a massive haemorrhage.
