As of 2001 India census,[2] Bagnan had a population of 8779. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Bagnan has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Three Century old temple devoted to goddess Kali only 2km away from the railways station. Huge celebrations take place during the annual dipawali festival.
Four Century old temple devoted to goddess Chandray only 6 km away from the railways station. Huge celebrations take place during the deily.
Two Century old God Shiva 12temple devoted to goddess Shiv only 6km away from the railways station. Huge celebrations take place during the annual festival.
About 5 - 6 KM from Bagnan Station, towards south is Nuntia, Mugklayan,Chandravag etc. where a qute family of Jamindar was Shee family. Now they ar instrumental in trade and commerce in that area.

Almost two century old devoted to goddess Bagheswari only 2km away from the railways station. Huge celebrations take place during the annual puja festival. Near this temple a pot of gold coins was found.
