"Baffler Meal" is an episode of the animated series Space Ghost Coast to Coast featuring Willie Nelson and an early rendition of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters, Frylock, Meatwad, and Master Shake. The script was originally written for the 2001 season, but was rejected because it focused too much on the Aqua Teens.[1] The episode was rewritten and aired as "Kentucky Nightmare", with a plot involving a shark and a bear.
Once production on Space Ghost Coast to Coast ended, Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis pitched Aqua Teen Hunger Force as its own show to Cartoon Network, and they accepted. Matt and Dave later created an episode based on the original "Baffler Meal" script. The episode aired January 1, 2003, and was included as a special feature on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume Two DVD box-set.[2]

[edit] Plot
Space Ghost has made a deal with the "Burger Trench" restaurant for a houseboat and two speakers (though he only gets one), and ends up regretting it when their mascots, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, show up and try to steal the spotlight. All three Aqua Teens are destroyed, which, somehow, allows Colonial Man (Space Ghost's nemesis from a previous episode) to change the future of classic rock.
When Colonial Man (played by Dave Willis) and his band are shown playing, the song they are playing has lyrics encouraging the purchase of Burger Trench products. Relevant to the "future of classic rock", the song they are playing is a parody of the Led Zeppelin song "Black Dog".
[edit] Aqua Teen Hunger Force
The characters, while similar to what they are today, were still far from being developed. Master Shake is still the leader of the team, but has no hands, a Space Ghost emblem or sticker on his back (which disappears after being knocked over by Space Ghost toward the end of the episode), a less obnoxious attitude than in the series, and is chocolate, as opposed to the regular series in which it is a green flavor (first lime, and later, pistachio, according to DVD commentary). He was voiced by Dave Willis. Frylock had crinkle-cut fries, legs, an amulet worn around his neck called the Amulet of Idahocules, a fry sword, and was voiced by Matt Maiellaro. Meatwad looked and sounded much like he currently does, but is uniformly depressed and more subservient to Shake, and constantly says the phrase, "The bun is in your mind." Master Shake and Frylock had voices and personalities similar to Ignignokt and Err, respectively. Frylock is also not the brains of the team.[3]
