[edit] Founding

In 1950, a proposal for establishing a commerce college in the Hindi medium was mooted by a few philanthropists including Raja Bankatlal Badruka and Sri Pannalal Pittie. Nawab Ali Yawar Jung Bahadurji, the then Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, appreciated the initiative and suggested that a college be started in English or Urdu medium with an endowment fund of Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Raja Bankatlalji donated the amount and obtained the approval to start a college with Intermediate Section in English medium. The first exclusive institution for students of commerce came into existence on 1950-08-02 and was inaugurated by Sri M K Vellodi, ICS, the then Vice Chancellor of Osmania University.

Initially, the trustees of Seth Gopikishan Educational and Charitable Trust were managing the activities of the College. In 1966, Seth Ghasiram Gopikishan Badruka Educational Society was established and was registered under Public Society Registration Act. Over the years, the Society's educational activities expanded. Today, there are 9 institutions of higher learning, managed by the Society covering such diverse areas as Information Technology, Economics, Commerce, Management, Chartered Accountancy, Vocational courses, Music & Dance.

The college aims to "foster an intellectual and cultural environment in which the spirit and skill of the creative individual will thrive, research flourish, and the artistic, educational and business needs of the national and international community be served".

The year 2000-2001 was the Golden Jubilee year for the Badruka Educational Society. The establishment celebrated that over the years, more than 50,000 students have passed through the portals of Badruka Society and some of the Alumni are occupying high positions in India and abroad.

[edit] Bankatlal Badruka College for Information Technology (BBCIT)

Bankatlal Badruka College for Information Technology (BBCIT), named after the founder, was established in 1990 to impart instruction of excellence in the area of IT. The college has been able to carve a niche for itself in the academic world in a short period of time due to hard work, dedication and scholarship of staff.

These diplomas are in Management and IT & Management.

Admissions to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM course of AIMA) is done through a Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by All India Management Associations, four times a year.
