"Bad Habit" is a song by California punk rock group the Offspring. It is the 3rd track on their 1994 album Smash.
In 1995, there was apparently some confusion as to what the 3rd single off Smash would be, and several stations in the US (such as KROQ) played "Bad Habit" as a single in early 1995. "Gotta Get Away", the 4th track on Smash, was actually released as the album's 3rd single, making it seem possible that "Bad Habit" was only released as a Radio Promotional Single.
More than a decade after its release, this song has remained a very popular song for the band and is considered a concert staple. It is usually always played as the first song on their standard concert playlist.
[edit] Song meaning
The song's lyrics discribe road rage and the lead singer Dexter Holland's "bad habit" of getting extremely angry at just the slightest thing. The first stanza reads as follows:
Hey man you know I'm really okay,
The gun in my hand will tell you the same,
But when I'm in my car, don't give me no crap,
Cause the slightest thing and I just might snap
