Bad Blood (2004) was the third Bad Blood professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It took place on June 13, 2004 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The tagline for the event was "He's Back. Watch Yours". The official theme song was "Sold Me" by Seether. The song "Back Up" by 12 Stones was used during the video highlighting the rivalry between Michaels and Triple H.

The main event was a Hell in a Cell match between Shawn Michaels and Triple H, in which Triple H pinned Michaels after two consecutive Pedigrees.[1] The main matches on the undercard were Chris Benoit versus Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship and Randy Orton versus Shelton Benjamin for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.[2]

[edit] Background

The main feud heading into Bad Blood was a Hell in a Cell match between Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Following the aftermath of Backlash, a World Heavyweight Championship match was booked between Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels for the May 3 edition of RAW.[3][4] The title match saw Benoit successfully retain the World title, after interference by Triple H, one of the opponents in the Triple Threat match at Backlash, in which he managed to hit both Benoit and Michaels with a Pedigree, in which he staggered Benoit to pin Michaels.[3][4] On the May 10 edition of RAW, RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff granted Triple H a World title match the following week.[5][6] Prior in the start of RAW, an encounter match between Shelton Benjamin and Triple H, resulted in Michaels attacking Triple H. Ultimately, Michaels actions resulted in a suspension from Bischoff.[5][6] The following week, a Number One contender's Battle Royal match was scheduled, in which the winner would go on to face Chris Benoit for the World title at Bad Blood.[7][8] One of the participants in the match included Triple H, who after eliminating Shelton Benjamin, was eliminated by Michaels, who was not a participant in the match, as he clotheslined Triple H out of the match.[7][8] The eventual winner of the Battle royal was Kane.[7][8] On the May 24 edition of RAW, Bischoff lifted Michaels suspension, after Triple H pleaded to Bischoff that he reinstate Michaels back to the roster.[9][10] On the same evening, Michaels confronted Bischoff if he was scheduled in a match with Triple H at Bad Blood. Bischoff assured Michaels the match that will take place, but was jumped from behind by Triple H, after Michaels attacked Triple H outside the arena's parking lot.[9][10] Bischoff gave orders to RAW Superstars to attack Triple H and Michaels, if seen fighting.[9][10] The roster tried breaking the fight up, but were unsuccessful in doing so.[9][10] The result of the fight gave Bischoff the authority to schedule a Hell in a Cell match between Triple H and Michaels at Bad Blood.[9][10]
