I created this with info from the Backpacker dab page. I didn't want to remove the material but I wanted to clean up the page so I created this. If someone wants to delete it then that is fine with me. gren グレン 06:17, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

"The term also may have originated (or became popularized) through the association of "indie" hip hop listeners with underground rock movements such as "straight edge." The "straight edge" fashion style often involves backpacks, sometimes even if the backpack is not being used. " I would really like to see a reference for this claim. I've never heard the term backpacker used within the hardcore let alone straight edge scene and I find it annoying how the term straight edge is thrown in with "rockers" and "indie" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.110.126.104 (talk) 02:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
