Backcrossing is not restricted to plant breeding. It's a general breeding strategy that is also used in QTL mapping studies (in drosophila and c. elegans, for example).

Yes, I was just going to point that out myself. It should really be changed to a genetics banner, but we don't have one so I'll just use biology. I'll try to reflect this in the article as well. Richard001 08:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
