Backyard Football is a series of video games for various systems. Currently all the games in the series have been developed by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. It is one of several Backyard Sports games, and is the first of the Backyard Sports series to feature professional players as kids, examples being Steve Young and Barry Sanders.

Backyard Football attempts to recreate the experience of playing American football as children.

The cover athletes have been: 1999 Steve Young, 2002 Drew Bledsoe, 2002 (Gamecube) Donovan McNabb, 2004 Jeff Garcia, 2006 Daunte Culpepper, 2007 Ben Roethlisberger, 2008 Tom Brady.

In one of Chuck Downfield's remarks before the game he tries to remember when he played for ethier the Ravensdale Roughriders or The Ravensdale Rough Riders. A spoof of a time where the Canadian Football League had two teams with almost identical names. The Saskatewan Roughriders, and the Ottawa Rough Riders.
