A Backup Express setup will have 3 kind of roles:
- Master Server
- Controls all backup management tasks, catalog, scheduling, job execution
- Device Server
- Handles Backup media and receives backup data
- Client Agent
- Handles data access, reading or restoring of data
A machine involved in the backup/restore operation can act as any combination of the above 3 roles.
