Backstreet Boys is the self-titled international début album from the pop group Backstreet Boys. The album was released around Europe, Asia, Canada and in a few other markets. It was a fair success and contains a number of the band's most memorable singles. All of those singles were later released on the second self-titled debut in the United States in 1997, which compiled songs from this album, and the band's second international release, Backstreet's Back.

[edit] Track-listing
This album, as has been common with Backstreet Boys albums, had several different track-listings in various markets. The German (European) edition is generally considered to be the "standard" track-list for this album. The release date for the disc is somewhat disputed, with some sources listing 1995, and some listing 1996. Some confusion might be due to the release of the different versions of the disc in different markets. Official charts for European countries including Germany, Switzerland and Austria, however, all give a release date of May 6, 1996, and data where available shows the album first appearing on various European charts within a couple of weeks of that date. [edit] Canadian version
In Canada, "Anywhere for You", "Let's Have a Party", and "Nobody but You" were omitted, making it a 10-track release. "Anywhere for You" would later be added to the Canadian edition of Backstreet's Back.
[edit] European limited edition
A limited edition European release contained a bonus track:
- Don't Leave Me
[edit] Dutch version - limited edition
In the Netherlands, two remixes were added to the European limited edition. This version was also released in Belgium.
- Don't Leave Me
- We've Got It Goin' On (Marcus Radio Mix)
- I Wanna Be With You (Amadin's Club Mix)
[edit] European special edition
There was a European special edition which had a black-and-white cover image and contained all of the songs (other than remixes and special versions) released in any version of this album.
- Don't Leave Me
- Give Me Your Heart
- Lay Down Beside Me
[edit] Asian version
In Asia, a different bonus track was added to the album:
- Lay Down Beside Me
[edit] Japanese version
Japan had its own bonus track on top of the Asian edition. This is common in Japan as the cost of printing and distributing copies of CDs is significantly higher than in most other countries. Bonus tracks appear as incentives for customers to buy the record:
- Lay Down Beside Me
- Give Me Your Heart
[edit] Asian limited edition
There was a separate limited edition for the Asian market with several bonus tracks, and had to be released somewhat later, since the acoustic version of "Quit Playing Games" is based on the recording of the song which features Nick Carter in the second chorus; this version was recorded later than the original album:
- Lay Down Beside Me
- Get Down (DEZIGN Radio I)
- Give Me Your Heart
- Quit Playing Games (Acoustic Version)
[edit] Italian version
"Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" was re-recorded in Italian as "Non Puoi Lasciarmi Cosi", with Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson taking over the lead vocals (other than the bridge). The album has the same track listing as the original European release, with the Italian recording added at the beginning of the record.
[edit] Spanish version
The band also re-recorded the vocals for "I'll Never Break Your Heart" and "Anywhere for You" in Spanish, with the titles "Nunca Te Haré Llorar", and "Donde Quieras Yo Iré" respectively. The same band members sung the songs as in the English versions. A version of the album released in several Spanish-speaking countries which contained the two songs
- Nunca Te Haré Llorar
- Donde Quieras Yo Iré
[edit] Filipino version
A version of the album with the aforementioned Spanish versions, but based on the Asian edition was released in the Philippines:
- Lay Down Beside Me
- Nunca Te Haré Llorar
- Donde Quieras Yo Iré
[edit] Australian version
A collectors' edition re-release of the album in Australia, subtitled "The Start of the Phenomenon", contained several bonus tracks
- I'll Never Break Your Heart (Radio Edit)
- Backstreet Boys Album Medley
- Quit Playing Games (Acoustic Version)
- We've Got It Goin' On (Markus' Deadly Vocal Hot Mix)
- Don't Leave Me
