"Back 2 Good" was the fifth single off Matchbox Twenty's multi-platinum debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You. This song would prove to be their biggest hit from this album according to the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at number 24 in 1998. The song was written by lead singer Rob Thomas and producer Matt Serletic, and is about a romantic relationship that seems to have reached its end, much to the chagrin of the singer.

It has also been said, by Thomas in particular, that the song is about being in a relationship, drinking, and then cheating on the person you're with. Another explanation provided by the lead singer is that it's about "fucking up so often that you become used to it."
