Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgey ( B.A.M.S )is a degree conferred to those who have studied ayurveda system of medicine in India( Bharat ).The course is of five and half years duration.The person having BAMS degree can practice Ayurveda in India.There are post graduate courses available after BAMS. Ayurvedacharya is an honorific title given to the recipient of a Bachelor Degree of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) by an accredited University.

This Sanskrit word is composed of two parts, Acharya (lit. master) and Ayurveda. The title denotes a master or expert in the understanding and practice of Ayurveda.
