Baía de Galeão

Baía de Galeão (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Baía di Galeon, São Vicente Crioulo: Baía d' Galeãu) is a bay located northwest of the island of Maio in Cape Verde. The bay runs from Porto Cais in the west to the island's northeasternmost point.

[edit] Geography

Its length runs approximately 5 to 8 km from north to south and is about 600 m wide. Almost the entire coastline are surrounded by the flat desert terrain that contain traces of bushes. Its minimum depth is around 25 to 30 m. The isle of Ilhéu Laja Branca lies in the central part of the bay located 500 m of the island shore.
